Scottsdale Autoshow

The design-build team of Hunter Contracting Co. (Hunter) and Kimley-Horn was selected by Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) to construct this auto mall. It's the first of its kind to be built on tribal land. The high-profile auto mall encompasses a 70-acre parcel at the SR 101L Pima Freeway and Indian School Road. This infrastructure development consisted of roadway construction, drainage infrastructure, 12-inch and 15-inch sewer mains and services, and 4,300 feet of 12-inch and 16-inch C900 water mains with fire hydrants and services. Hunter coordinated with SRPMIC and the City of Scottsdale to connect the new waterline to existing water mains on Pima Road and Indian School Road with minimal disruption to water service. This short-duration development project required substantial upfront planning; significant continuous multi-agency coordination with the site developer, architect, SRPMIC, adjacent residents, City of Scottsdale, and ADOT; and significant flexibility to meet the continuously changing needs of the site. This project required substantial drainage analysis, including an Area Drainage Master Study along the Pima Road corridor; complex drainage infrastructure improvements, including the construction of large regional retention basins and channel improvements; significant utility coordination; and cultural training, monitoring throughout design and construction.
