Johnny G. Martinez Water Treatment Plant Improvement

Six-year, multi-phased CMAR project that included demolition and removal of existing buildings, pipelines, and structures; construction of a new 12MG reservoir and finished water pump station and a new UV disinfection facility; installation of 6,000 linear feet of 60-inch diameter water transmission pipeline with large diameter valves and flow meters; removal and replacement of underdrain system; installation of new filter media; extensive electrical upgrades; and civil improvements. The project also included integrating new control and electrical systems into the existing City of Tempe systems. All work was performed while maintaining operational capability except during planned shutdown periods. There was an extensive collaboration with numerous stakeholders, including the Cities of Tempe and Scottsdale, EMS providers, utilities, ADOT, North Tempe Neighborhood Association, and local business owners.
