Tucson Division
Hunter Contracting Co. began working in the Tucson area in 1988. In addition to our Home Building Division, we began concentrating on Private Development and Public Works Infrastructure projects.
In 1991, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) contracted with Hunter to build the Tangerine Road project from First Avenue to Oracle Road. This was the first ADOT “Partnering” project in Southern Arizona. Hunter welcomed the partnering concept and attitude of cooperation, which we continue to practice today on all our projects.
In 1993, Hunter Contracting Co. opened an office in Tucson to better serve the needs of the community. Over the years, this division has grown to employ over 200 people in the Tucson area alone.
The Tucson Division projects include Roadwork, Airport Runway and Taxiway Construction, Design/Build projects, Construction Manager at Risk, and numerous Job Order Contracts. Projects have ranged in size and complexity from small $5,000 Job Order Contracts to the $25 Million Craycroft Road CM@Risk project for Pima County. Additionally, this Division has also expanded into Industrial Construction, which includes Water and Wastewater Facilities, Solid Waste Facilities and others.
Hunter Contracting Co. also builds Con-Arch structures, which are designed to meet specific project drainage challenges. The structurally efficient arch shape allows for material savings that reduce the cost of the structure compared to typical box culverts and bridge structures.
At Hunter, our goal is to be the “Contractor of Choice” for all of our clients as well as our employees, and our Mission Statement reflects that goal.
