The City of Phoenix and SRP have designated the Arizona Canal as part of the SRP Portals and Loop 11 mile trail system. This site was in need of a safe, ADA compliant access at the canal crossing. HCC was hired through a Job Order Contract to install an owner provided pedestrian bridge to complete the trail crossing. HCC restored the owner provided bridge by sandblasting, painting and installing a new concrete deck surface. HCC coordinated with SRP Irrigation and Power in establishing a work plan to construct the bridge's 30ft shaft foundations, abutments, approaches and bridge erecting plan.
After coordination with 3 crane companies, it was determined that crane picks were not feasible. HCC implemented an engineered, low-clearance pick using two excavators. HCC worked closely with the City in keeping the Arcadia District informed of the construction operations to minimize disturbance of resident's daily activities. |
