Scope of Work: The Surface Water Treatment Plant 15 MGD Expansion project increased the production capacity of the plant from 45 million gallons per day to 60 million, an increase of 33%. The expansion included construction of a new raw water inlet and pump station, tied into the Consolidated Canal, new ballasted flocculation basin, and equalization basin. Hunter performed construction on chemical and electrical buildings, filtered water pump station and sludge drying areas. The construction of the raw water inlet / pump station demanded careful planning and strict adherence to the schedule. Construction time was limited to the canal dry-up cycle, and significant resources were dedicated to the work. A new Chlorine Generation system, CO2 and other chemical system upgrades, and plant-wide electrical and instrumentation installations were also completed.
