Gilbert Rd & University Intersection Improvements

Scope of Work: Full intersection reconstruction and road construction of two major arterial roads. The project included dual left and right turn lanes, bike lanes, overhead power line and utility relocation, traffic signals, and street lights. All of these things were completed successfully while maintaining business, residential and bus access.

Buckeye Flood Retarding Structure (FRS) No. 1 Rehab

Scope of Work: Originally built in the early 70’s, there are three structures that have provided valuable flood protection for the I-10 as well as the Town of Buckeye and surrounding farming areas. Hunter Contracting was the CMAR for Phase 1 of this multi-phased rehab project. The 2.5 mile trenches were 36 inches wide at depths ranging from 10 to 42 feet. The team installed Geotextile fabric and central filter material to bring the dam into compliance; eliminating the current dam safety deficiencies.

Cactus Road Improvements

Contract Amount: $ 9.3 Million
Scope of Work: Reconstruction of 1.8 miles of Cactus Road from 96th Street to Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. The project also included 1,300 LF of waterline relocations and 3,500 LF of storm drain installations.

Mesa Drive and Southern Avenue Intersection Improvements

Scope of Work: The project consisted of widening Mesa Drive between US 60 and Southern Avenue to include three through lanes and raised medians with modern art lights. The intersection now includes dual left turn lanes.

Taylor Street Mall Between 2nd and 3rd Street

Contract Amount: $ 842,000
Scope of Work: The City of Phoenix commissioned this project to be a Traffic Calming project with pedestrian enhancements to accommodate ASU Downtown Phoenix campus location and the vibrant neighborhood. The construction of this project included road improvements, street lighting, and landscaping, undergrounding of powerlines. Hunter was able to complete the project while maintaining pedestrian and vehicular safety and access for high traffic areas.
